Preceded in death by his parents, Earl Glen Pingel and Hazel Amy Dean Pingel.
Survived by his sister Barbara Jean Pingel Lysic of Streetsboro, OH and his wife of ten years, Diana Schaffer Pingel and his five children, Richard D Pingel, Jr of California; Amy Ann Pingel Haase of Hillsboro, OR; Christine Pingel of Forest Grove, OR; David Gilley of Forest Grove, OR; and Michael D. Pingel of Gresham, OR as well as 4 stepchildren, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam era having served proudly in various Naval Air Squadrons.
He was a Master Plumber by trade, owning his own business for several years in Colorado, before relocating to Oregon.
While living in Colorado he helped form and became Chief of Longmont Emergency Unit performing search and rescues and acting as the team diver when necessary during search and rescue missions in the Rocky Mountains.
Dick was an avid fisherman and loved camping and he was also a motorcycle enthusiast, having ridden with the Patriot Guard and loving the mission.
