After graduating from high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. army, at the age of 19. He spent the next four years on the European front in WWII. During this time, Bob was in Germany where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and participated in the liberation of concentration camps.
After his time in the service Bob attended Gonzaga University where he studied business. He followed his parents to Portland, Oregon after graduation where, in 1953, he started West Pacific Sales. The company later became Acme Construction Supply. Bob is considered a pioneer in the commercial construction supply industry for his various contributions to the trade. He was known for religiously reading trade papers and the Wall Street Journal every day, even after his retirement at the age of 92.
Bob is survived by his wife Deloah and their children Molly (Steve), Hugh (Jenny), and Brigid (Jeff). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alison, Riane, Joe, Helen, Kate, Kelly and Ethan, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Margaret.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 3rd at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Portland. There will be a reception following at Riverside Golf & Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Society of Jesus, Oregon Province at jesuitswest.org.
