

Robert Lyle (Bon) Burton, born December 16, 1946 to Paul Kinley Burton and Phyllis Greenwood Burton in Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away of advanced kidney cancer on November 22, 2014 at his home in Beaverton, Oregon. Bob was raised by a hardworking father and mother who took a great deal of pride in their home and family. His father, Paul, owned and operated service stations in Grants Pass. Bob and his little brother Gary spent their childhood playing football, baseball, basketball, soccer and any other sport they could discover or invent. He grew into a young man exploring the beautiful countryside and wonderful weather of southwestern Oregon. Bob met the love of his life and mother of his children, Jeannie Franklin Burton, in Portland in 1970. They were married in Jeannie's hometown of Payette, Idaho on March 23, 1971. Bob and Jeannie settled in Portland and raised three children: Paul, Chris and Leah. Bob was a consummate family man who dedicated his life to coaching children's sports and spending time with his children. The stories of his life are of sports related travels, adventures and accomplishments. He touched a multitude of lives and was the catalyst in countless memories through sports and coaching. Bob had a long and dedicated career at Pacific Machinery and Tool Steel Co. in Portland. He loved traveling, camping and fishing, and going to yard sales to search for collectibles. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis, father Paul and his eldest son Paul. He is survived by his wife Jeannie, his son Chris, his daughter Leah, his brother Gary and a large extended family. Any memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society in Bob's name would be appreciated.
