February 27, 1940 – March 10, 2026
Robert George Koury, known to most as Bob, was born on February 27, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to George and Nora Koury. Growing up, he lived in several places but always considered Southern California his home.
In 1968, Bob met the love of his life, Shirley Rottle. Their connection was instant, and they married on June 22nd, 1969. Their love would go on to span 57 wonderful years. In 1970, Bob and Shirley moved to Oregon to be closer to Shirley’s family in Washington. There Bob began a successful career as a real estate broker, developer, and entrepreneur.
Bob and Shirley built a rich and beautiful life together centered around faith, family, and community. They were active at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, deeply involved in their childrens lives, and always surrounded by family and friends. They also shared a love of travel, enjoying many cruises, traveling throughout the United States, touring Europe, and taking a meaningful trip to Lebanon and Syria with Lebanese friends and family in 2010.
Of all Bob’s accomplishments, his greatest pride was his children and grandchildren. He loved his family deeply, and nothing brought him more joy than being together.
Bob will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his strong business sense, and most of all his deep love and devotion to his wife and family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his daughter Margaret Goff (Laris), his son Robert (Denise), his daughter Michelle, and his cherished grandchildren Jenna McPheeters (Kai), Lucy, and Robert III “Bobby.”
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services are Wednesday March 18th at 11:30 am at St George Antiochian Orthodox Church 2101 NE 162nd Ave with a meal after. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
