Robert grew up in Portland, where he graduated from Benson High School in 1965. During his second year of college, in October 1968, he was drafted into the US Army and served his country with honor. He was based in Vietnam at Chu Li during the Tet Offensive, returning home to his family in October 1969.
Robert went into partnership with his father, Joe Mikula, at Crown Cabinet. After his father passed away, Robert opened his own company, known as Crown Door & Supply.
Robert was a sports enthusiast, and enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and golf. He was a proud owner and member of Pope Lake Farms Hunt Club on Sauvie Island, and was a member of Persimmon Golf and Country Club. Robert enjoyed planning “special” fishing and golfing events with his many friends.
He was well known for his “Rodney Dangerfield” style sense of humor – Can’t Get No Respect! He will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Diane;
Two sons, Scott D. Mikula and Michael D. Mikula, of whom he was very proud; and a special daughter, Janelle, mother of grandchildren, Nicole and Kayla, whom Robert loved and adored.
Robert Duane Mikula will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date.
He will forever be in our hearts.
Donations in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
