Robert (Bob) Patterson was born in New York on September 4, 1933. He was the youngest of 4 children to George and Alma Patterson.
In 1951 Bob joined the Navy and was stationed in Astoria Oregon where he met Carlotta Joan Glockner. Bob and Carlotta were married on October 15, 1955. They have two children, Correne Kay and Mark Anton and three grandchildren, William T. Fairly, Elise M. Fairly, and Michael A. Patterson.
Bob was the ultimate Handy Man. His wife Carlotta kept him quite busy with the never ending list of Honey Do’s. He built cabinets, did electrical repairs, hung dry wall, and even replaced the toilet after his son flushed down a wooden block. There wasn’t much in the way of repairs or remolding he couldn’t do.
Bob worked for the State of Oregon as a Carpenter/Maintenance man on the OHSU campus. Over the years his ingenuity was quite an asset. He created many useful tools that streamlined the work process. Many of these tools eventually were retired and are displayed in the carpentry shop on Bob’s Wall of Fame. Bob retired at the age of 55 after 30+ years at OHSU but never lost contact with the many friends he made there.
Bob enjoyed many interests, but none more than wood carving. He spent many hours in the garage with chisel in hand. Even as a child you would find him on the back step with his pocket knife and a piece of firewood, whittling away.
Bob passed away on March 24, 2011 at the age of 77. Bobs loving manner and kind hearted sense of humor will be greatly missed by all.
We love you Dad, you will always be in our hearts.
Arrangements under the direction of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, Portland, OR.
