
Robert (Bob) Harry Peets, 82, peacefully passed away on June 4, 2026. Bob was admitted into OHSU’s care in Portland, Oregon and died several days later.
Bob was born on March 21, 1944 in Portland, Oregon and was one of 5 children. He was raised in Portland, Oregon and spent his life there. Bob attended Portland State University and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelors Degree, he also played on the Portland State University football team where he won the award of Most Inspirational Player. Soon after he graduated, Bob became a high school teacher and coach and also joined the Army reserves. On May 20th of the same year, he married his wife, Gretchen (Helzer) Peets. They happily celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Bob taught US History at Reynolds High School and Roosevelt High School. He coached football and wrestling at both schools. He was head football coach at Roosevelt High. Later in his career, Bob worked in commercial real estate.
Bob stayed involved with the Portland State University football program. He religiously attended practices and games and came to know the coaching staff and many of the players.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gretchen, daughter, Anna Snow (Adam Baker), and 4 grandchildren: Abigail Snow, Natalie Snow, Evan Meyer, and Alex Meyer. He has reunited in Heaven with his daughter Sara (Dan Meyer) and granddaughter Audrey. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Marty Peets and Betsy Peets.
Bob lived a simple, quiet, happy life. Bob provided strength and support to his family and to his friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Foothills Park Pavilion (Lake Oswego, OR) on July 27, 2026 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
