Robert was born in Portland, Oregon on January 1, 1950 to Juan and Anna (Wilson) Pulido. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Davidson) Pulido, brother John, sister Cheryl (Pulido) Davis, brother Steve, sister Clarijean (Pulido) Salas, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Robert and Kathy met in 1972, married in 1982, and were together for 53 years. They celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on August 29, 2025.
He loved his country and served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era. A deployment in the USN included a tour of duty as a chef at the United States Naval Academy, and subsequently a tour aboard the U.S.S. Cleveland LPD-7. While in a foreign port, his ship and crew were exposed to Agent Orange, and Robert suffered from those toxins, resulting in various health conditions. Despite this fallout, he was always, always a true American Patriot. Following his military commitment, he worked for many years as a sheet presser in cardboard container manufacture.
Robert cherished any kind of animal, saved many, and supported several animal rescue foundations. He fed the raccoons, birds, squirrels, and any strays who sensed a safe harbor with him.
In his spare time, he was a member for approximately 13 years in the One More Time Around Again Marching Band. He later founded, and was Executive Director of his own band, the Get-A-Life Marching Band. In 2009, his band played Louie, Louie for the Obama Inauguration! He thoroughly enjoyed marching and playing his drums in the many parades, reminiscing, celebrating, and gathering with old and new friends.
Robert will be remembered as a wonderful man with a beautiful soul, and very public with his kindness and humor. He believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a spiritual man. He loved his family immensely and cherished his friends. He was proud of his military service, and bragged of his Filipino and Native American Indian heritage. He often said, “I’ve lived a good life and when it is my time, it’s my time. I’m ready.” He lived in peace and was not afraid.
Robert will be laid to rest with honors in a private family service at Willamette National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage a donation in his name to a charity of choice that works with Veterans, or, because of his great love of animals, an animal-centered agency.
