“Bob” Roberts was born and raised in Terry, Montana. He and his identical twin brother, Bill, were the youngest of the six children of Henry and Ethel Roberts. As a boy he loved riding his bike through the vast prairie land of eastern Montana. He moved to the St. Johns area of Portland during his teen years where he graduated from Roosevelt High. In 1949 he married Blanche Nielsen and they provided the world with five children (Douglas, Duane, Debra, Denise and Dana). He later married Tammy Thorne and their blended family included Marty and Larry Thorne, and Jim Roberts. He was further blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob loved people and truly “never met a stranger”. His gift for conversation naturally led him to a career in sales culminating in the ownership of Bob’s RV Country in Beaverton for 25 years. Bob had a quick laugh and smile and loved being in the company of others.
Bob also loved the outdoors and travel. His particular passion was for hunting, fishing, and horses all of which he enjoyed with family and friends.
Bob was a man of strong faith and was active in his support of many charitable organizations. He had a strong love for Jesus and his country and was ready to tell others.
He will always be missed but we take comfort in knowing he is happy and whole in heaven, in God’s presence.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14th at 2pm at Rock Creek Christian Center at 21450 NW Rock Creek Blvd .
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the Rock Creek Christian Center or the Alzheimer’s Organization.
