Robert Samuel Staudt was born November 18, 1934, in Portland, OR. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1952. As a young man, Bob trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized on April 25, 1954—the same day the current Woodstock Bible Church building was dedicated. Bob married Evalyn Hill in October of 1956, in Richmond, Virginia, where Evalyn had grown up. As newlyweds, they moved to Los Angeles, CA, to help in the Pico Rivera Apostolic Christian Church. Their daughter, Becky, was born there In October 1957.
In June of 1958, Bob and Evalyn moved back to the Portland area. He was ordained as a minister and began pastoring in the Park Place Apostolic Christian Church. In 1959, Bob became a draftsman for the Ray F. Becker Company, and he and Evalyn purchased a home in Gladstone. Soon after, they welcomed another daughter, Christy. The next year their son Philip was born.
The Park Place church closed in the early 70s, and Bob and his family worshipped with the Portland congregation from then on. Bob served on the ministry team and was ordained as an elder in 1981. For years he was active with the Western Missionary Committee and the Western Camp Committee.
In 1987 and 1991, Bob and Evalyn traveled to Papua New Guinea to visit their daughter Christy and her family, and to encourage others serving there as missionaries.
Bob retired from both his draftsman job and his ministerial position around 2009, but he never stopped ministering to others. He helped several older siblings through their last years, did some preaching and teaching, organized family reunions, and met people for one-on-one visits as often as possible.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mary, his siblings Eva, Clara, Mary, Martha, Betty, Albert, Ray, and Carrie, and his son, Philip. He is survived by his wife, Evalyn, and their daughters, Becky (Larry) and Christy (Jim), grandchildren Jeremiah, Kimberly, Jamie, Jed, and great grandchildren Eden, April, Zion and Lily, and his brothers Jack (Liz) and Melvin (Linda).
