David passed peacefully on February 19, 2022 surrounded by his family.
David was born on May 11, 1943 in Richmond, CA.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas T and Comelle Windham; and by his sister, Helen Marie Weitzel Brackney.
After graduating from Benson High School, in 1962, the love of his country had him join the Marine Corp Reserves where he proudly served until the end of the Vietnam Conflict.
In 1966, David married Joyceann Heidebrecht and began his 25 year career as an Electronic Technician at Tektronix. And in April of 1969, David and Joyceann welcomed their daughter, Lisa, into the world.
David’s uncanny ability to understand anything mechanical or electrical served him well in his career at Tektronix where, after 25 years, he took early retirement to pursue his passion as a General Contractor where he was able to see his master craftsman skills come to fruition. He had a talent for working on cars. As a hobby, he spent many hours in the garage working on his 1901 Oldsmobiles, rebuilding trackers and woodworking.
David’s entrepreneurial spirit took over in the early 1990s when he purchased the Hardware Store in Rockaway Beach, where he lived until 2015. During his time in Rockaway Beach he looked forward to driving his 1901 Oldsmobiles in the 4th of July parade accompanied by his grandchildren each summer.
An accomplished pianist, David had a love for classical music. He enjoyed relaxing while sitting at his keyboard and playing his favorite pieces.
David is survived by his x-wife and friend Joyceann Windham; daughter, Lisa Pruett(Mike); and his grandchildren, Lindsey Hamilton(Ryan), Nick Pruett and Natalie Pruett.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Windham family.
