I met Ron at Carmans restaurant in 1972 and knew him well. He was a kind and amazing man. He inspired me to want to become a police officer but, in those times there was a height requirement and I was too short at 5 foot.  I miss our talks and pray that he spends eternity in heaven. I look forward to seeing him again in the after life

We would like to extend our condolences to Ron's wife Christine and the rest of the family. We did not know Ron personally, but I know his wife. Our prayers and love go out to them.

Ron was a friend and I am sorry that I missed his service as I was out of state. Time passes so quickly anymore and never is truer when you haven't seen someone for a long, long time.  We shared triumphs and tragedies in our lives, supported each other when we could, sympathized when it was necessary, complained when we thought it was needed, but we never betrayed a trust.

Sorry old friend I'll see you later.

Ron was a good cop and a better friend, even though he was always trying to get me married off to whatever new officer he deemed appropriate. His sense of humor never failed him, nor did his decency. Although I hadn't seen nor spoken with him for nearly 25 years, I'll never forget his silly grin when he wouldn't cite a mover for some extenuating circumstance. I will share a carton of chocolate chip mint ice cream with friends in his memory.

While I didn't know Ron Parno as a police officer, I did know his music.  Ron and his friend, Bill Kauffman, played and sang from time to time with Gresham's noted men's vocal group The Meistersingers, and what joy they brought to each performance!              Dorothy Pearce Bryant

 I recall how energetic and full of life Ron was while he was at PSU and was a member of Delta Tau Rho and Kappa Sigma fraternity. Until we met in the Chapter Celestial of Kappa Sigma.

I worked with Ron for a couple of years @ Tricor courier (after-I believe-he had "Retired" at least once!), he was a wonderful person to work with. He always had a smile for everyone and you could always count on him for a helping hand or a funny story or joke... just don't use his vehicle!! lol He will be sorely missed. The world is a poorer place without him in it, I feel for his family...

Ron worked for me when he first came on the Police Bureau.  He quickly established himself as an excellent police officer and was a real credit to the Police Bureau.  As a sergeant, he had the opportunity to influence the careers of many new officers.  He will surely be missed by family and friends.  May they be comforted by many loving memories of Ron's presence in their lives.

I had the pleasure and honor to work with and for Ron at east precinct in the mid 60's.  He was, as others have said, one of the good guys.  I always found Ron to be gentle, with a good word for everyone.

I was a good friend of Jim Wylie and Larry Hill, both talented musicians who jammed with Ron on occasion. They would occasionally play open mic or an actual gig at my then favorite watering hole, the Nobby Tavern on NW 23rd ave. Ron was great fun to be around and he once shared that he enjoyed getting lost in his music as it relieved the stress of his real job. He always feared that trouble might break out in the venue and he would have to take off his band hat and put on his policeman hat. I recall that happening on one occasion and Ron very deftly, and diplomatically handled the situation from the stage barely missing a beat. He was one of the good guys and he will be missed. All things good to Ron's family and friends during this trying time of loss. Pax vobiscum.

I have known Ron for many years since I also worked at PPB for 40 years.  I worked closely with him at East Precinct and always thought of him as one of the nicest guys.  See you in heaven, Ron.

I signed on the job in 1966 and met Ron soon after.  We worked together, became friends and played music together, with Ron on the bass fiddle and me on guitar.  He was truly a great guy, and we will miss him.
