Rosa Beatrice Richardson of Portland, OR passed away peacefully on September 2, 2019. She was born October 22nd, 1935 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana to the late Lloyd Grant Sr. and Lovie Minnieweather.

Following her graduation from Grant Union High School, Rosa followed the trail of her uncles and moved to Portland, OR to pursue a career in the field of nursing. As destiny would have it, Rosa met and later married Alfred Richardson. To this union were born two children Carolyn Richardson of (Portland, OR) and Arvel Richardson of (San Antonio, TX).

As a young woman, Rosa committed her life to Christ and became a member of Community Church of God. Rosa took her faith seriously and her commitment to nurture her family.

During her working career, Rosa distinguished herself in the career of Food Service. Passionate about her work, Rosa worked at Marylhurst College campus near Lake Oswego, OR as a staff cook, she then was promoted to Head Chef and was later awarded the title of Food Service Director (FSD). As the FSD, she established protocols that were used to establish the daily menus for staff and students, as well as several annual events related of the college.

In 1975, Rosa became the FSD at Kamlu Retirement Center in Beaverton, OR. Renowned for her dishes, her meals fed the body and the soul. After the center was sold, Rosa accepted a position at the main Distribution Center for Loaves and Fishes in SE Portland, OR and she worked there until she retired in 1985.

As a woman with many interests, Rosa enjoyed cake decorating, competing in bowling leagues and playing cards. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Portland Trailblazer fan.

At her senior living center Laurelhurst Village, Rosa participated in many daily activities and travel events. As senior, she still had things to say and in 2014, Rosa was quoted in the: A Write Around Portland - Anthology, Vol 16/No 1.

Rosa’s trust in God sustained her and she never complained. She was a strong and faithful servant to her final resting moment.

Ms Rosa Richardson is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and former husband Alfred Richardson. She leaves to mourn her: children Carolyn Richardson of Portland; OR and Arvel Richardson, his wife Kimberly Richardson and grandchildren Brassant and Hollis Richardson of San Antonio, TX; beloved brothers, sisters, cousins, relatives, a host of friends and her granddog Maxamillion.
