She attended Franklin High School Portland, Oregon, graduating in 1950.
Her professional journey included time working in admissions at Hillside Hospital in Ukiah, California, as well as work with Sno-Craft Sheltered Workshop in Vancouver, Washington, where she served as a supervisor. She also served for many years as a liaison for Bonded Credit, Check Central and Good Customers, companies that her and her husband Roy Newman Sr owned and operated.
Throughout her life, Rosalie was a dedicated and hardworking member of her community, giving generously of her time and talents to many organizations and activities. She was involved with Questers and the Red Hat Society, and, most importantly, spent many years volunteering with SnowCap and delivering meals for Meals on Wheels in Gresham, Oregon.
When she wasn’t busy helping others, Rosalie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved going to the movies, swimming at the community pool, painting, and singing with a community choir. She especially cherished spending time with her beloved family. Rosalie also shared many wonderful adventures with her sister, Anne Marie, traveling together and seeing the world. These experiences, along with the many lives she touched through her kindness and service, were an important part of the life she so fully enjoyed.
Rosalie was preceded in death her first husband, Patrick Fitzpatrick, and her second husband of 52 years Roy F Newman Sr. Surviving children are Patrick (Deb), Roy Jr. (Cheryl), Jim (Theresa), Nancy (Don), and Barbara (Tony). She was a loving Grandmother to eight (preceded in death by her grandson Nicolas), and a loving Great Grandmother to ten.
We will always remember Rosalie as the loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was!
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 21st at 1:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home. A reception will follow.
