Roy was born to Roy Mervin Routledge, Sr. and Melva Elnora Kolloen. He spent his early childhood on the family farm in Minot, North Dakota. It was at the hands of his maternal grandparents that he learned the meaning of hard work and discipline which served him well through the different seasons of his life. Older sister, Merva Jean (Routledge) George (deceased), and younger brother, Edward Allen Wilson, rounded out his siblings. Roy joined the Air Force Reserves on July 23, 1966 and serving his country soon became his favorite “hobby”. Roy met his wife, Margaret Rose, in a class at Portland State University. The couple married on April 10, 1970 and were blessed with a daughter, Denise Ann (Routledge) Taylor, and a son, Robert (Rob) Louis Routledge. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family and was involved in all aspects of their lives. He was a dedicated husband and father who worked extremely hard to support and care for them. Roy sold Real Estate and was a Commercial Appraiser for Washington County. He retired from the military on December 8, 2003 and from Washington County on June 30, 2009. For the past 8 years Roy had been suffering with chronic, almost constant, back pain which he showed us how to bear patiently and he always maintained his sense of humor. The last stage of his journey here on earth was his decision to become Catholic on September 30, 2018, his father-in-law, Louis Henry Ceciliani’s, birthday.
