Jim Taber passed away at home in November shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Born in Longview, Washington to Mildred and Russell Taber, Sr., he moved to Portland where he graduated from Benson High School in 1948 before serving with the Oregon National Guard and Air Force.
Marie Prier and Jim were married in 1955. He sailed, fished, and camped with family and friends during his years as an insurance agent. He was a practical joker, once pretending a pile of brown M & M's was scat during a hunting trip, saying as he popped one in his mouth, "Nope, not a Whitetail!"
Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years Marie; children John Taber (Stacy), Kari Taber, Kristina Knight (Tim); and grandchildren Marena Halisi, Sara Kromm (Nick), and Jamie Knight, as well as extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.
