

Ruth Mae (Harris) Hanson went to be with her Lord and King on April 16, 2011. She was born April 11, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Oliver and Amelia Harris. She grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from David B. Oliver High School. She also received degrees from the Pittsburgh Academy and Portland Community College. On November 25, 1943, she married Frank “Rex” Hanson. They subsequently moved to Oregon.
Ruth was a talented writer and authored many stories, articles and poems. She was a devout Christian, and loved to talk about the Lord. She was devoted to her seven children. She held many positions throughout her lifetime, and spent the last 20 years of her career as a librarian at Portland Community College.
She is survived by her son, Eric Hanson; daughters, Virginia Harper, Sherrie Johnson, Kathy Russell, Carole West and Debra Dew; brother, Oliver Harris; sisters, Esther Hanson and Grace Pazlar; five sons-in-law; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rex Hanson and brothers Paul and Joseph Harris.
A celebration of her life will take place at 1:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Grand View Baptist Church, Korean Chapel, 14855 South Leland Road, Beavercreek, Oregon.
