Ruth Irene Mayfield passed away on June 13, 2015 in Milwaukie, Oregon. She was born on July 28, 1923 in Burr Oak, Kansas to parents Albert and Olive Vian, one of 5 children. In the 1930’s she moved with her family to Oregon, finally settling in Portland. On February 1, 1944, Ruth married Harold Mayfield, and they shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage before Harold died in 1997.
Ruth was a strong woman who always took care of those around her. She was loving and welcoming to any who came her way, and would talk to anyone and everyone with ease. She loved flowers and spent much of her time in her garden. More than anything, she loved her family and held a great deal of respect for her home and all the people in it, treating all with kindness and love.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brother Lewis; sister Edna; grandson Mark; and great-granddaughter Nala. She is survived by her son Irvin; daughter Marilyn, grandson Scott, and great-grandson Jordan; sister Shirley Oakley and brother Virgil Vian. She will be missed by all.
