Ruth was born on May 23,1934 in Electra, Texas to Matthew and Mary Wynn who have preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brothers William Henry Wynn, David Wynn, and sister Lorraine Jackson. After graduating Stockton Junior College, Ruth went on to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse, where she cared for and helped many. She loved being a nurse and often said that if she could still work, she would. Ruth moved from Modesto, California to Portland, Oregon six years ago with her family. Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1985 and remained a faithful servant of the Lord up until her passing. Ruth faithfully studied her Bible, memorizing the books and reading her Bible from front to back 15+ times.

After caring for her parents, being an active member in her church and later retiring from nursing, Ruth spent her time in prayer, doing word-searches and crossword puzzles, traveling, and watching TV, particularly old western movies and crime shows, with her favorite being Chicago PD. Her all-time favorite, however, was a good Karate movie. Ruth loved to watch Olympic ice skating, college basketball and The Voice. Ruth enjoyed living in Oregon because she loved the rain and the tall, green trees. Of course, her favorite color is green. She really liked frogs and collected all types of rocks from various travels with her family.
To be in Ruth’s presence, was to be in peace. She loved you, prayed for you, comforted, and calmed you. She was the epitome of kindness, selflessness, love and always knew what to say, which generally reminded you to trust in GOD because he makes no mistakes. She is not only loved and adored by her family but by everyone who was Blessed to know her. She was greeted everywhere she went with, “Hi, Miss Ruth”. She sincerely loved and prayed for everyone each night and throughout the day. Ruth was humble, always thankful and an absolutely beautiful person. She was full of wisdom and knew a little bit about everything. Many referred to her as Grandma because she treated everyone she met like they were her own. Ruth was a giver and taught us all to give to those less fortunate because we are all so Blessed. Ruth’s love has left the most beautiful imprint on our hearts, which we will carry with us forever. She will forever be our Mommy, Nona, Mom, Grandma, Ruthie.
With respect to Ruth’s wishes, this intimate memorial is being held. The family will come together for a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Mom would have asked that you make a small donation to your local homeless shelter.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.finleysunsethills.com for the Wynn family.
