Sally was born on September 24, 1949 in Los Angeles, California, to Ray & Jean Allen. She was raised in Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Illinois, Metairie, Louisiana, and Hermosa Beach, California.
Sally met James Rode on a blind date in March, 1968. The couple was married on September 11, 1971 at Mt. Oliver Lutheran Church in Santa Monica, California. The couple went on to raise two children in Spokane, Washington, and eventually settled in Washougal, Washington.
When Jim and Sally met, she was employed by McDonnel Douglas Corp in Santa Monica, California. Eventually, Sally's caring, kind, spirit led her to Special Education, and she was employed by the Cheney School District as a Special Education Para Educator from 1999 to 2009.
Sally loved to walk on the beach in Ocean Park, Washington, she loved to cook for her family, garden, bowl, golf, and go camping. She was a member of the Central Lutheran Church in Spokane, Washington from 1980 to 2009, then became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Camas, Washington from 2009 to present.
Sally had an infectious smile, a great sense of humor, and showed an unconditional love for her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sally is survived by her husband, James Rode; her son, Michael Rode; daughter, Kimberly Rode; Daughter-in-law, Cristina Rode; and grandchildren, Trent Griffith, Alexander Rode, and Simon Rode.
A memorial service will be held in Sally's honor at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home on September 24, 2023, at 11am. Family and friends are invited to attend to celebrate Sally's life and share memories. A lunch reception will be held following the service.
