Like her mother, who became a RN at St. Luke’s hospital in Spokane, Sally became an RN, receiving a BSN at OHSU, in 1961. She met and married Roderick Wright, at the University of Oregon, producing three beautiful children. Yet it was clear after twelve years of marriage that they needed to part.
Sally met Ian Timm in the late 60’s and as part of their marriage in 1971, he became the legal father of the children. Together they created a remarkable partnership with devotion to each other, their children and grandchildren, world peace and the well-being of everyone.
In the 1980's, after assisting refugees NW Medical Teams and with the International Rescue Committee and Catholic Relief Services in Thailand for four years and later in Sudan for two years, she returned to Oregon to assist aging parents and help take care of their first set of grandchildren.
Both Sally and Ian were retired by 2004 and continued their decades-long study and practice of insight meditation, begun when they lived in Thailand. This was the foundation for what became a joyful second vocation of helping to edit mindfulness meditation books for several Burmese and Thai authors.
Sally is survived by her husband Ian, their children Lani Timm, Jason Timm (Xiaoyang Wang), Allen Timm (Shoshana Timm), all of Oregon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and sister Susan and her family in Canada.
