After Sarkis’ mother Nazig survived the Turkish Armenian war, she moved to the United States. Sarkis was born August 10th, 1927 in Portland, Oregon. He attended Woodmere Grade School, was a Boy Scout and loved football, which he played at Franklin High School. he met Joyce Nelson at “The Cooler”, her family’s restaurant, and the two were married on August 9th, 1947. Sarkis went to work for Atiyeh Bros where he spent 45 years as a salesman, manager, and eventually a partner in the company. Sarkis and Joyce had four children Ron (Adele), Linda (Dean), Mike (Lorrie), David (Lori), six grandchildren (Kevin, Sara, Ryan, Justin, Katie, Emma), and two great grandchildren (Kylie and Addison). Sarkis loved his vegetable garden and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce. He is survived by his best friend and Brother John and children Ron, Linda, Mike and David.
