Shahadeh Boutros was 92 years old when he passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at about 1:45 in the morning. He lived in Happy Valley, Oregon. He came to the United States in 1975. He was born on April 9, 1928 in the Zawayteeni, Syria to Elias Boutros who passed away in June of 1955 and Salma Hanna, who passed away on November 17, 1997. He was married to Norma Faris on June 30, 1957. They were together for 63 years until her death on August 8, 2020.
Shahadeh worked in the field of construction. He worked with his father as a stone cutter and builder. In 1953 he enlisted in the Syrian army and was in the military police. When he came to America he worked in the various fields of construction, starting out in landscaping and gardening, then painting and maintenance. He loved to work in the garden and build walls out of stones.
Shahadeh was preceded in death by his daughter, Ahlam Betrous on November 19, 2016, and then his wife of 63 years. He is survived by his four sons, George, Elias, O'sama, and Norman; His grandchildren, George, Kristian, Megan, Tiffany, Stephanie, Norman, Nicolas, Zayna, Andrew, Johnathan, Lucas, Samuel, Elizabeth, and Victoria; and he had two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacob. He was the oldest of six children, two boys and four girls. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jameeli, who died at the age of four in 1940, then Rumza Boutros in February 1980, and then by Jameeli Hanna in August 2006. His parents named their sixth child Jameeli Hanna after her sister who died. He is survived by his younger brother Ramiz Boutros and Aziza Deeb.
The thing he enjoyed the most was reading his bible. He took bible correspondence study with an Arabic ministry called "Voice of Preaching the Gospel". He would always mention that he received bible certificates in which he passed with high marks. He would use the fact that he had these certificates to point out to his son that he knows what the bible better than him. He would always pray before he went to sleep even to the last night alive he would always call on the Lord Jesus and say the Lord Jesus was his savior.
