Sherrill Jeanne Carr transitioned from this life to the next on September 28, 2022. She was born in Santa Cruz, California on March 19, 1955 to Jessie (Jack) Claire Carr Jr. and Colleen (Carr) Maxwell. Sherrill passed away at Providence Portland Medical Center after having been in long-term care.
A descendant of the Inupiaq, she was a member of the Bering Straits Native Corporation. In her life, she lived in San Jose, California; Syracruse, New York; Salem, Oregon; St. Johns section of Portland, Oregon; and Gresham, Oregon.
Sherrill had two sisters, Catherine Carr and Trish Bell. She attended Washington High School and received a GED from the Multnomah County School District.
Sherrill was musically gifted and able to compose a beautiful piece upon request at the piano, often sounding like music from heaven. She was also blessed with a creative eye for that which was aesthetically pleasing. She loved the rosary and shared her possessions even when she had need for them. She certainly practiced the teachings of Jesus in giving all she had to others. Sherrill is remembered as light and airy in nature with sparkling eyes and a kind smile. She also had a wry sense of humor with a twinkle in her eye.
Sherrill was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Lezah Palanuk of Spokane Valley, Washington; her sisters Catherine Carr of Tillamook, Oregon and Trish Bell of Kent, Washington; her Aunt Catherine Swan Reimer of Chewelah, Washington and Uncle Carl Maxwell of West Palm Beach, Florida.
