Shirley A. Richey

Shirley Alberta Richey, 98, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 in Portland, Oregon. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 14, 1915, and was raised there by her parents, Carl and Charlotte Longfellow. In 1936, Shirley married Clifford E. Richey in Woolwich, Maine. She held many jobs over her years, including working in a fabric mill, bookkeeping for the Housing Authority, and as a librarian.

Shirley enjoyed bird watching, hiking, and being outdoors. She was a member of The First Congregational Church in Chicopee, Massachusetts, The Audobon Society, and the Women's Club. She volunteered at a camp for disabled children for many years.

She was a real people person. She loved everyone she met, and called them all her friends. She will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew her. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter. Joan and husband Don Bilodeau; son Clifford Richey; grandchildren: Kevin Cliff, and Cristina Richey, and Mark and Gary Bilodeau; and great grandchildren Danika, Morgan, Mary, Cameron, Chandler, Hannah, and Tristan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Clifford Richey.
