Ian was born, raised and started his family in England, moved to Montreal Canada in 1966 and then Salem Illinois in 1970 and finally to Portland Oregon in 1976.
Ian was a young teenager during World War II and when old enough, he joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) and went on to Kingston Technical School, became a draftsman and eventually an engineer in the aircraft industry working for Vickers Armstrong followed by Canadair in Montreal. During his career he was able to work on the development of the Concorde. When he moved to the United States he began to work in the printing industry, designing printing presses.
He was a lifelong soccer fan, a player, a coach of youth teams in both Illinois and Oregon and a dedicated Portland Timbers fan. Rumor has it the move to Portland was result of the Timbers.
He was a scoutmaster for both the boy and girl scouts in Salem Illinois.
He found much joy in his life from owning, driving and repairing many British sports cars and motorcycles. He was a lifetime member of the Portland Triumph Owners Association including stints as President and organized many classic car shows and rally events.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne, who he married in 1957. He is also survived by three adult children, Christine Boundy, Susan Pitarresi and Paul Boundy, Son-in-law Joseph Pitarresi and daughter-in-law Leslie Ebert-Boundy and three grandchildren, Andrew, Brittany and Chelsea Pitarresi.
There will be a memorial service on August 31st, his 65th wedding anniversary, starting at 1:00 with a service at 1:30 at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary Chapel.
