Steve was born on September 3rd, 1948 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Herman and Irene Myre. He grew up with his cherished sister, Nancy Sue. In his childhood, he was surrounded by a large, devoted family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved riding his bike to the corner lot to play baseball with his friends. Fishing and hunting trips with his dad remained precious to him throughout his lifetime.
He attended the University of Minnesota, achieving his Doctor of Pharmacy in 1975. He was considered a pioneer in a new field of pharmacy, pharmacokinetics. He taught in the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the University of Cincinnati for 32 years. He was well-loved and respected by faculty, staff, and students. He was a world-renowned expert in the field of renal transplantation, and published many articles in the course of his tenure.
A week after moving to Cincinnati, he met the love of his life, Susan. They married within the year. They had two beautiful daughters, Beth and Laura, of whom he was so proud. Steve and Susan spent many wonderful years in Cincinnati raising their girls. They were active members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 35 years. They were lucky enough to have visited all seven continents in their travels.
After retirement, Steve and Susan moved to Portland, Oregon to be professional, full-time grandparents. They found a home near their daughter Laura and son-in-law Boon, whom he loved as a son. Being a grandfather to Isla and Wyatt was the absolute joy of his life. Isla and Wyatt loved "Grandpa Stinker" in return. Steve's favorite days included Isla's soccer games, Wyatt's "special day" with Grandpa, sleepovers, and chauffeuring them to and from school.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his beloved daughters, Beth Myre and Laura Parrett; cherished son-in-law, Boon Parrett; faithful sister, Nancy Cornish; brother-in-law Chuck Cornish; precious grandchildren, Isla and Wyatt Parrett; aunts, Donna and Karen; uncle, Tom; and many cousins.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Irene Myre; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
