Susan attended North Catholic High School and went on to enroll in beauty school at Beau Monde. Later in life, she continued her education at Mt. Hood Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree. She was a hairstylist for 45 years, even owning her own salon. After retiring from her long career in hairstyling, she created and ran U Can Do It Dog Wash and later worked as a school bus driver.
Susan met her husband, Denny, through a mutual friend, and they were married on October 4, 1990, in Vancouver, Washington. Susan was a loving wife, sister, and stepmother. Her positive outlook and constant, beautiful smile were among the qualities most remembered by those who knew her best.
A committed Christian, Susan attended New Hope Church in Clackamas for years, later finding Love City Church in NE Portland, where she became very active. Her faith was important to Susan, sharing God’s love through missionary work, and through a life marked by kindness and sincere devotion. Through her travels she took one trip to the Philippines and two to Africa.
Susan enjoyed golf, walking, horseback riding, swimming, skiing, playing drums, and painting. She also had an eye for beauty as a decorator, bringing creativity and thoughtful detail to the spaces she touched.
Susan is survived by her husband, Dennis; her sons, Travis and Chris; her grandsons, Anthony and Nathan; her siblings: Becki, Steve, Pat, and Paul; her aunt; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Love City Church.
