On June 11, 2026, our world changed forever. Our beloved Sydney was taken from us far too soon in a tragic car accident, leaving behind a sorrow that words cannot fully capture. The light she brought into our lives was extraordinary, and the space left by her absence is immeasurable. Though her time with us was far too brief, the love, laughter, and joy she shared will remain with us always.
Sydney Rae Lewis was born on September 7, 2000, in Portland, Oregon, the first child of Russ and Sally Lewis. From the moment she arrived, Sydney filled every room with energy, curiosity, and an infectious smile.
Her childhood and education took her on a journey from Cascade Summit Montessori, Sunset Primary, Three Rivers Charter School, West Linn High School and ultimately Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas, where she graduated. She returned home to attend the University of Oregon, proudly embracing life as a Duck and graduating in 2022 with bachelor’s degrees in psychology and business.
Sydney found her calling in serving others. She devoted her career to children’s mental health, helping young people navigate life’s challenges. Her compassion was genuine, her empathy unwavering, and her belief in the potential of every child left a lasting impact on the lives she touched. Helping others was not simply her profession—it was a reflection of who she was.
Music was the soundtrack of Sydney’s life. It wasn’t merely something she enjoyed; it was woven into the fabric of her being. She loved every genre but held a special place in her heart for Broadway musicals. She played piano and guitar, eagerly experimented with other instruments, and could often be found singing along to her favorite songs or lost in the magic of a show tune. Music brought her joy, and in sharing it, she brought joy to everyone around her.
That love of music naturally led her to dance. Sydney spent years taking classes, teaching others, and dreaming of a professional career in dance. She was happiest when music and movement came together, and anyone who watched her dance could see the pure delight and freedom it gave her. In those moments, she seemed to shine even brighter.
Sydney’s life was also guided by a deep and personal faith. It gave her strength during difficult times and shaped the kindness, grace, and compassion she extended so freely to others. Her faith was reflected not only in what she believed but in how she lived—through acts of love, generosity, and understanding.
Above all else, Sydney treasured the people she loved. She was a devoted daughter, older sister, a cherished granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. The memories she created, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so generously will remain forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Sydney is survived by her loving parents, Russ and Sally Lewis; her sister, Hayley Lewis; her Abuelita, Alice; her Grammy, Carolyn; and her Grandma, Kathy; her aunts, Olga, Tami, and Mirian; her uncles, Bobby, Jesse, and Ty; her cousins, Andrew and Nicole; countless friends who became family; and her beloved cat, Charlie.
A celebration of Sydney’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Happy Valley, Oregon. Burial and reception will follow. We kindly invite guests to wear a touch of pink, if you wish. It was Sydney's favorite color.
Although our hearts are shattered by this unimaginable loss, we are profoundly grateful for the 25 beautiful years we were blessed to share with Sydney. She was, and always will be, our precious little girl.
The service will be streamed (and able to be re-viewed for 60 days thereafter) at the following link:
