

Sylvia Pauline Curry, 90, of Milwaukie, Oregon, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at home surrounded by family. She was born on March 14, 1921 in Purdin, Missouri to the late Jesse Francis and Anna Alice (Clark) Burkholder. She graduated from John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles, Californis in 1940, was a certified Beautician, and worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a Manager in Food Services. She married husband Everett W. Curry on December 24, 1939 at the Hoover Street Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
Sylvia was a member of First Baptist Church in Oregon City; Women's Auxillary of the Los Angeles Baptist City Mission Society; Board of Directors for the Baptist Children's Home of Southern California; Sanctuary Choir, Valley Park Baptist Church in North Hills, California; and Choir member of First Baptist Church of Oregon City. She was very proud of her two sons serving as Ordained Ministers with American Baptist Churches USA, and was a caretaker of elderly family members.
Sylvia is survived by her sons The Rev. Everett W. Curry, Jr. of Hillsboro, OR and The Rev. Robert D. Curry of Paso Robles, CA; Grandchildren Joan J. Curry, Kimberly S. McSwain, and Kevin E. Curry; and Great Grandchildren Mandee, Aaron, Timothy, Alisha, Hannah, and Grace. She was preceded in death by her Husband Everett in 2001, and her sister Irene Burden in 2003.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 11:00am at the Rose Villa Retirement Community, Mefford Hall, 13505 SE River Road, Milwaukie, OR 97222. The family suggests remembrances to the Rose Villa Foundation at the same address.
