Terry Ann Forsythe, 74, of Portland, Oregon, died September 7, 2026. Born November 21, 1951, in Portland, Terry was the daughter of Rex and Doris Suplee. From her earliest years, she carried herself with a steady thoughtfulness that shaped the way she learned, worked, and cared for others.
Terry was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She attended Menlo Park Elementary School, followed by David Douglas High School, and later graduated from Centennial High.
Terry’s first job was at A&W. She went on to devote most of her working life to Portland Public Schools, serving as a paraeducator in classrooms ranging from elementary through high school. In that role, her attentive presence and calm, considerate manner made a lasting difference to students and colleagues alike, until her retirement.
In 1971, Terry married Robert Forsythe at 1st Presbyterian Church. They first met in the simple, memorable way life so often unfolds—helping a friend move a bed from one apartment to another.
Terry found joy in the everyday comforts that bring people together. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, crafting, and dancing—interests that reflected both her creativity and the care she took in making life warm and welcoming for those around her.
Above all, Terry was a loving mother. She cared deeply for children of all ages and took genuine satisfaction in helping people, offering a listening ear and a steady sense of order when it was needed. Those who knew her will remember how easy she was to talk to, and the quiet consideration she brought to the moments that mattered.
Terry is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Richards and her husband Alex Burns; son, Joshua Forsythe and his partner Lisa Norwood; son, Zach Forsythe; three grandchildren, Jake, Alexa and Vincent; sister, April Anderson; nephew, Matt Hui and family; and niece, Megan Thompson and family.
