May 4, 1931 - July 29, 2026
Theola Betty “Teddi” Miller was born in Portland on May 4, 1931. She was the only child of Ted and Bea Miller. Teddi died in Beaverton at the age of 95.
Teddi graduated from Roosevelt High School and the University of Oregon. While vacationing in Hawaii with her best friend Geraldine, she met Eugene F. Gill (United States Air Force) at a military dance and “the rest is history.” Gene and Teddi were married in Portland. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary before Gene’s passing.
During her early years, she was a competitive swimmer and also developed a love for dogs. She soon became an accomplished and respected trainer, show judge, and breeder of German Shepherds and Belgian Sheepdogs. Teddi showed several champion dogs in the ring - many her own, and some belonging to others. She volunteered her time by leading young 4H handlers in the WAGGIN’ MASTERS showmanship class.
Gene and Teddi moved for schooling and job opportunities in California, the Midwest, and finally back to Portland in 1970. They moved into the home her parents built in the NW Portland neighborhood of Cedar Mill. They loved their home and the city of Portland.
Teddi was a strong, independent woman. She and Gene supported and encouraged their three sons' participation in all kinds of sports, music, martial arts, and other activities. They always made time to attend their games, tournaments, and special events. She loved the Portland Winterhawks, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the University of Oregon’s men’s basketball and football teams.
The family attended Sunset Presbyterian Church in the 70’s. They also gave to a variety of charities, but most notably, the Salvation Army and St. Jude’s Hospital.
Teddi Gill was preceded in death by her husband Gene. She is survived by her sons Eugene (Rhonda), David (Tina), and Jason Gill. She had two grandsons: Andrew Gill and Jimmy Pressler (Conley).
The family would suggest that any donations in her name be sent to The Salvation Army and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
