Theresa Josephine Byrne Thomas, 95, died on September 28, 2026. Born on March 19, 1931, she was the daughter of John and Josephine Byrne and was born and raised in Thurmont, Maryland. She was a current resident of Portland, Oregon.
Theresa’s life was marked by a steady, uplifting spirit—one that found expression in everyday kindness, openhanded generosity, and a faith that guided her through each season. Her warmth made people feel welcomed and cared for, and her hopeful outlook was a light to those around her.
She built a working life rooted in skill and dedication, first in secretarial business work and later as a seamstress—roles that reflected her practical gifts, patience, and willingness to serve. Whether with needle and thread or in an office setting, she brought care to what she did and dignity to the work in front of her.
In 1954, Theresa married William Michael. Together they adopted six children, and she embraced motherhood with deep devotion. She gave of herself in the ways that matter most—through steady presence, gentle guidance, and a heart that made room for others.
Theresa’s faith was not only personal, but also communal. She was the longest and oldest member of All Saints Catholic Church, a place that reflected the center of her spiritual life and the strength of her enduring devotion. Her belief was sincere and constant, shaping a legacy of compassion and goodness that will continue to be felt.
She is survived by her daughter Agnes and husband Gregory, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loved by any nieces and nephews on the East coast.
