A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27 at 11:00 AM, preceded by the Rosary at 10:30 AM, at Resurrection Catholic Parish in Tualatin, Oregon.
Born in Baker City, Oregon, on July 29, 1958, Tom was the youngest of eight children. He graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing. He spent over 40 years as a dedicated CFO and Controller for small businesses throughout the Willamette Valley. Though committed to his career, his true priority was always his family, ensuring he was fully present for the people he loved.
At the center of Tom’s life was his 44-year marriage to his beloved wife, Ann. Together, they built a strong, supportive and deeply loving partnership that served as the foundation of their family. Tom had a wonderful relationship with his children and their spouses, and he was an exceptionally devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren.
Tom believed in doing good simply because it was right. He brought a steady optimism to everyday life and had a natural ability to make people feel seen and important, a generous spirit he shared deeply with his church, neighborhood, and friends.
Tom was a man of many passions. He loved sailing, running, playing the piano, singing in his church choir, and swimming at the neighborhood pool. Above all, he cherished his family. As the organizer of the annual Higgins Family Reunion for the past 40 years, he served as a pillar of unity, bringing everyone together and leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love.
Tom was preceded in death by his infant son, Tyler; his parents, John and Esther; his brother, Matt; and his nephew, Ted.
He is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Ann; his children, Jean and Patrick; their spouses, Nate and Emilie; his three cherished grandchildren, Cassian, Eliza, and Molly; and his six surviving siblings: John, Tim, Mary Ellen, Patty, Francis, and Catherine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Father’s Heart Street Ministry (tfhstreetministry.com) or Rebuilding Together PNW (rtpnw.org), both organizations that Ann and Tom faithfully supported through their parish.
