

Thomas James Hollcraft was born, September 9, 1936 in Portland, Oregon to Francis and Virginia Hollcraft.. He was raised in St. Johns and Holy Redeemer Parish in North Portland. He lived most of his adult life in Northeast Portland. Tom loved the outdoors, education and his family.
Tom enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved salmon fishing on the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean. He took his family on many fishing adventures. Tom hunted big game, deer and elk and would often take his family.
Tom received his education from Holy Redeemer Grade School, Columbia Prep High School, The University of Notre Dame and the University of Portland. He entered the seminary at Notre Dame upon graduating from High School. After two years at Notre Dame, he transferred to the University of Portland where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Education degree.
He taught English to high school students for Portland Public Schools for 10 years. He then left teaching and started his own construction company, Hollcraft Homes Inc. After several years as a contractor, he returned to teaching with the Portland Public School district, where he taught high school students in the home repair program.
Tom married Barbara Mulkey in 1958. They had five children, James (Gwen) Hollcraft, Julie (Phil) Bride, Michael Hollcraft, Therese (Thad) Collins and Elisabeth (Kurt) Raimer. He married Sandra McCarthy in 1979. They had three children, Kevin, Cory and David Hollcraft. He married Marie Marckx in 1993 and became father to Dennis Ansbro.
He is survived by his wife Marie, his nine children, his siblings, Richard Hollcraft M.D., Diane Hollcraft, SNJM, Mary Mildenberger, 21 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Tom passed away on November 18 at his home in Portland, Oregon. Tom will be remembered for his abundant love for his family, education, the outdoors and craftsmanship. His presence will be greatly missed.
