He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years old, and was honorably discharged.
Following his military service, Tom did many things. He worked in security, and later as a wholesale florist.
Tom exchanged wedding vows with Cheryl Eason on September 5, 1992, in Happy Valley, Oregon. The couple enjoyed 32 happy years together.
Tom loved talking to people, and telling jokes. He enjoyed being on his computer; and debating matters of the Green Bay Packers with his stepson, Christopher. He especially loved Cheryl’s family, who embraced him as their own. He had been known to say, “I finally have a family.”
Tom passed away on November 5, 2024, in Vancouver, Washington. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2024, in Willamette National Cemetery.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; stepson, Christopher Ryder; and Cheryl’s siblings, Jim Eason, Kathy Leavell, Mike Eason, Sue Eason, and their families.
