He was born in Tacoma, Wash., on October 4, 1961 to Leonard and Dorothy Fleischmann. Throughout Tim’s childhood his family moved many times, from Tacoma, to Salem, Eugene, Portland, Fort Wayne Indiana and finally back to Portland. The family settled in NE Portland in the Hollywood/Beaumont district.
Tim attended school at what is now St. Rose Elementary and Central Catholic High School. He attended one year of study at the University of Oregon, moved back to Portland and attended Portland State, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He then went on to earn his CPA license from the State of Oregon in 1995.
On June 5, 1999, Tim married Pamela Brown. Together they shared 25 years of love and dedication. In 2003 they welcomed their son, Nick, into the family.
Tim’s professional career began after college when he took a job with Blue Cross/Blue Shield as auditor of regional hospitals. Following that, he worked with the Ernst & Young Accounting firm until 1992 when he joined the financial team at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro. After a few years, Tim was promoted into the role of Chief Financial Officer, a position he would hold for the next 25 years. During this time, Tim guided Tuality through economic ups and downs, expansions of services, development of foundations, research centers, and public outreach programs. Tim was extremely proud of the work he did at Tuality. He believed in the mission of the small community hospital and truly enjoyed and respected his colleagues. In 2017, after leading the negotiations of a merger between Tuality Hospital and OHSU, Tim stepped down as CFO and began work with St. Mary’s Academy as a consultant on a building expansion project. He eventually created his own financial consulting LLC. Over the last 5 years, Tim consulted with two mission driven organizations, The Red Door Project and Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Foundation, both of which have long running programs and facilities projects on which Tim was a part.
Tim enjoyed a lifelong love of golf, playing at courses throughout the United States, a few in Europe and most recently in Colombia. His family and friends were always the most important priorities in his life. Tim was intensely proud of his son Nick, who is a recent graduate of Arizona State University in the Department of Aviation. Tim created friends wherever he went, garnered respect and trust in his personal and professional life and was fond of saying “I’m a lucky man” – those of us who were privileged enough to know him would have to say we are lucky to have known such a wonderful, loving, kind, funny, gracious, intelligent, and beautiful human being.
Tim is survived by his wife Pamela and his son Nick: brothers Joe Fleischmann, Tom Fleischmann (Molly Fleischmann): sister Jean Czuba (John Czuba): his nieces and nephews: Joe Fleischmann Jr., Jen DeGroft (Ryan DeGroft), Matt Fleischmann, Mallory Fleischmann, Eddie Czuba, Laura Czuba, and Sally Czuba. As well as great nieces and nephews: Jack, Gabe, and Wes DeGroft, Ryder Fleischmann, and Leia Fleischmann.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 25th at 1:00 p.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church, 2727 NE 54th Ave, Portland.
