It is with heavy heart that I share that my brother Tony Michael Giesbers passed away last night. He had recently spent 2 weeks+ at St Vincent hospital. Being the recluse that he was, Mother Teresa, brother Jeff, & I capitalized on this time to spend with him as Tony was a captive audience! We reminisced, laughed, even completed his Advanced Healthcare directive (PLEASE be sure you and your loved ones have this important document).
Tony was born 3/31/1967, excelled at BMX racing in the early 1980s, enjoyed wind surfing at Hagg Lake, even bicycled his way to the Oregon coast in his younger years. He loved his motorcycles over the years, camping at Sand Lake & playing up at Browns Camp especially with Jeff Giesbers (& his family) as they were very close being only 2 years apart. He was a mechanical genius; put a V-8 in his first car, a Ford Pinto! There was no mechanical issue of a vehicle he couldn't tackle. And he really enjoyed RC cars and planes, too.
He worked 25+ years as a groundskeeper at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary which truthfully was a perfect job for the shy person he was.
He was Uncle to Justin, Kevin, Josh Peters, Ben Peters, Shane Giesbers, Lucy Gremaud, and Raymond. Tony was a brother-in-law to Gail and Mick Gremaud and brother to Jeff Giesbers, me (Misty), John Giesbers, Grant Giesbers & Travis Giesbers. He was the classic middle child; quiet, independent and lived life on his own terms. He and our Mom had a Saturday routine of long phone calls particularly this past year. He was preceded in death by his father John Giesbers and also preceded in death by our shared dad Willy Makin.
