

Velma Lorene (Julien) Elmore passed away at the age of 98 peacefully at home at 5:30am on September 8th surrounded by family. She was born April 17. 1928 in Wabaunsee County, Kansas to Edgar John and Hattie May (Grimes) Julien.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed building bonds with her family and community. Remembered with deep affection, Velma was a warm and energetic person who drew people close.
She married Harvey C. Elmore August 29, 1945 in Junction City Kansas. Shortly after the birth of their first son they moved to Portland, Oregon. Harvey preceded her death on February 7, 2019.
Velma is survived by her two sons, Ron (Lori) Elmore and Jeff Elmore. She is also survived by her grandchildren Leslie (David) Linden, Jennifer (Jeremy) Miles, Tia (Rogelio) Cortes, Marty (Laura) Wallace, Amber (Ryan) Yarbor, Sydney Elmore; Great grandchildren, Jackson and Alex Linden, Brandon and Kylie Miles, Riley Cortes, Abigail Wallace, Leah, Izzy and Ruby Yarbor as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. All of whom will miss her greatly. In the hearts of those who knew Velma, there will remain enduring gratitude for a beloved life—one shaped by a spirited sense of adventure and a gracious, welcoming way of being.
A memorial service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens on September 20th at 11am followed by a graveside service held on September 21st at the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.
