

Wayne was born in Alstown, Washington on March 3, 1924. He grew up in Pendleton, Oregon with his parents Vearn and Mabel Courtright, and his two older sisters and brother, Evelyn, Isabel, and James.
Wayne joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Pendleton High School in 1942. He served as a Motor Machinist Mate First Class on various minesweepers. Wayne received the American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a World War II Victory Medal.
After being honorably discharged in 1946, Wayne went into business with his father and brother in Courtright’s Auto Service in Pendleton. Wayne married Helen M. Hargett on May 11, 1946, and they were married for 67 years. They had a daughter, Sherry, and son, Robert.
Wayne passed away in the presence of his family on December 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert Wayne Courtright, sister Evelyn Butler, and brother James Courtright. He is survived by his wife, Helen, daughter Sherry Courtright, daughter-in-law Gwen Courtright, grandchildren Andrew Courtright and Allicyn Tice, and sister Isabel Lund.
Wayne’s Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014. The service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., located at 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, Oregon.
