OBITUARY

Wayne Allen Smith

June 22, 1944November 17, 2019

Wayne Allen Smith, of Gresham, passed away on November 17, 2019, at the age of 75.

He was born on June 22, 1944 to James and Margaret Smith, in Portland. He attended Franklin High School before graduating in the inaugural class of Marshall High School.

After graduation, Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his Country during the Vietnam War and was stationed on the USS Sacramento. After his honorable discharge, he gained employment with American Honda Motor Company where he worked as a stock and material handler. Wayne was a celebrated member of the company and retired after forty years of employment. While working he also met his wife to be, Janet E. Porret.

Wayne and Janet were married in 1974 in Portland. Together they have celebrated 45 years of love and adventures with raising their three boys, Cory, Lane and Casey.

Wayne loved to spend time with his family. With his sons, he enjoyed racing remote control cars and had the privilege of being their Scout Master as they all went through Cub Scouts. Wayne started riding motorcycles in his twenties and this grew to be a great passion of his. He and Janet would hit the open road travelling to the mountains and coast of Oregon. They took many of these rides with Wayne’s cousin, Patti and her husband Paul. The group enjoyed many trips camping, garden tours, and even to Hawaii. Wayne also enjoyed watching English car shows and even hoped to restore a 1950 Sedan Delivery. Wayne will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to always lend a helpful hand.

Wayne will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Janet; his sons, Cory (Angie), Lane, and Casey Smith; his grandchildren, Alesha, Alexis, Corbyn, Kiley, Lena, and Tashaun; his brother and sisters, George Smith, Margie Bradley and Nellie Delano; his cousins Patti and Paul Tempelton, and many more dear friends and coworkers.
