William "Bill" Major Bogh was born in Donnelly, Minnesota on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1926. He passed away on March 1, 2018 at home with family in Portland, Oregon. His parents were Evelyn and Ervin Bogh. Bill attended Benson High School and Vanport College until it was washed away in the Vanport flood. He was in the 77th Army Infantry and when they disbanded he went into the 5th Air Force. Bill worked as a firebrick mason for many years, retired in 1989 and was in the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union for 65 years.
Bill married Mary Jennette and had a daughter, Teresa. Later in life, he married Elnora Mills and had 5 children, Bradley, Barry, Chris, Pamela Robison, and Paul. In 2004 he married Ruth Ann James, although the two were a couple for 24 years before that. Bill was a procrastinator.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Multnomah Anglers & Hunters, Oregon Hunters Association, Tillamook Anglers, Northwest Steelheaders, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, CCA, NRA, Gun Owners of America and Oregon Firearms Federation.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann; stepdaughter, Marci James; his 6 children; 3 grandchildren, Scott Sims, Megan Ryan and Colin Ryan; 2 great grandchildren, Josh Sims and Mason Sims; and one great-great grandchild, Lainey Sims.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Della Ann Farrier and Jackie Farrier.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Multnomah Anglers & Hunters, a tax exempt organization which will go into a scholarship in Bill's name for an OSU student majoring in Fish & Wildlife. Checks can be mailed to 1638 NE 118th Ave. Portland, Oregon 97220.
A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at 10:30am on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 NE Thompson St. Portland, Oregon 97213.
