Bill was born on July 13, 1933, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, to Nora (Summeral) and W. Dewey Estepp. He was raised in South Carolina and completed his education through the eighth grade.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years aboard the USS Salisbury Sound (AV-13). He went on to a long and dedicated 42-year career with Nabisco, retiring in 1998. While working at Nabisco, Bill met Alice Kay Nagle. They were married on December 6, 1981, and Bill and Kay built a beautiful life and family together, filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories.
Bill found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved feeding the birds in his yard, gardening, and growing blueberries and flowers. He was especially proud to attend his grandchildren’s school activities and cherished every moment spent with his family. A skilled craftsman, he also enjoyed creating leather items. Bill had a curious mind and a passion for learning, particularly about history and geography. He also enjoyed dining out, especially at Olive Garden.
Above all, Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply loved his family and treasured the time spent with them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his daughters, Darlene (Glenn) Boles and Dianna (Martin) Taal; his stepdaughter, Patti (Tami) Jerome; five grandchildren, Jeff, Lauren, Ryan, Melissa, and Alisha; one great-grandson, Louis Boles; and two sisters, Ruby Timmons and Linda Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles; three sisters, Doris, Margaret, and Barbara; and his stepdaughter, Deborah Pemberton.
A funeral service will be held on April 9th at 1:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a committal service with Navy Honors at 2:30 PM at Willamette National Cemetery.
To celebrate Bill’s life, memorial contributions may be made to OPB, Columbia County Food Bank, or the Portland Humane Society.
