William "Bill" John Fink
December 26, 1932 – March 30, 2019
William “Bill” passed away the morning of March 30, 2019, with his family by his side. He was born Dec. 26, 1932, to John Fink and Lillian Helzer Fink in Scottsbluff, Neb. He spent his early years growing up on the family farm. In 1947 the family moved to Portland, because farm land in Nebraska was becoming scarce. The John Fink Family started Fink Sanitary Service that he and his brother George owned until their retirement in 1992. Bill graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951 where he was a member of “The Starting 5” of the first Jefferson High School State Championship Basketball Team. Bill was also a Korean War Veteran. While Stationed in Germany he worked as a mechanic in the motor pool. In 1962 he married Janet A. Kratochvil; together they had one son, William Frank Fink. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family especially his beloved granddaughter, Taylor. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, watching sports on TV and gardening in his yard. He was a member of Rivercrest Community Church and the Gateway Elks. Survivors include his son, William F.; granddaughter, Taylor; sister, Jo Ann Fink Iverson; brother, George E. Fink; one niece; and two nephews. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2019, at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 N.E. Thompson Street. A graveside service will follow at Rose City Cemetery.
