

Surrounded by loving family in his final days, William "Bill" Edward Goggins Jr. passed away Feb. 19, 2015, due to illness. Bill was the beloved husband of Adell May Gibbs Goggins, with whom he shared over 68 years of beautiful life together. Bill was born in Portland, to William Edward Goggins Sr. and Edna Blanche Goggins (both deceased). He attended grade school in Lents and Waldport and high school in Springfield. At age 17, he was employed for a brief time as a truck dispatcher for Kaiser Shipyard. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army with the Observation Battalion of Field Artillery in the Asiatic Pacific area during WWII. He received many decorations and citations, including a Purple Heart. Bill retired in 1988. Prior to retirement, he was production controller for Portland Chain Manufacturing, a division of Webster Manufacturing, where he worked for over 38 years. As a lifetime member of Mt. Hood A.M. & F.M. Lodge #157, later transferring to Tigard-Orenomah Lodge #207, Bill was a Mason for 57 years. He was also associate guardian for Mt. Hood Jobs Daughters Bethel #5 and Dad Advisor for Mt. Hood DeMolay. He was a member of the Al Kader Shrine and Tualatin Valley Shrine Club. In addition, he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 1st F.A.OBSN Battalion Association, Army and U.S. Pep Post #1325 Portland. Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them at various family events. After retirement, he and his wife, Adell, enjoyed camping and traveling to the Society Islands and many trips to Hawaii over a 25-year span. They spent winter months in their homes in Chandler, Ariz., and Hemet, Calif. He enjoyed reading, listening to music and taking care of his 1980 El Camino. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother. In addition to his wife, Adell, he is survived by daughters, Elaine L. McQuire-Teeter (Davey) and Evelyn J. Todd (Jerry); precious grandchildren, Michael McQuire, Kimberly Harrison (Andi), Jenifer Nelles (Eric), Zach and Misty Todd; and precious great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Dakota Harrison and Max and Mia Nelles. Friends and family are invited to attend his Masonic service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Lincoln Memorial Park, 11801 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd., Portland, followed by a private committal. The family suggests donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children -Portland, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road
