

Bill earned a B.A. in Economics from Washington State University in 1955. After completing his education, Bill served honorably in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a financial analyst for the city of Portland for 30 years, retiring in 1994.
On August 26, 1965, he married Sharon Elizabeth Duncan, having met her through a group of mutual friends of her brother Tom. Sharon and Bill were married almost 28 years, before she passed away from complications of diabetes in December of 1992.
Bill was a longtime volunteer at the Oregon Zoo, and a recipient of their Packy Award of Service with well over 5,000 volunteer hours. He enjoyed photography, wood carving, and painting, and had received Honorable Mention and People’s Choice awards for his photography numerous times at the Oregon State Fair. In additional to being a citizen of the world and having visited over 40 countries, Bill was a curious and artistic soul, always looking for a reason to laugh and an opportunity to help others.
Bill is survived by his son Thomas S. Oberhue and his wife Coby, a sister-in-law, Jane Duncan, and by his niece Lisa (Duncan) Quintero and her spouse Alex.
A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 6 from 1-4 pm at the family residence at 8988 NW Lovejoy Street in Portland.
Private family inurnment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
