Yvonne Ratcliff

Born on January 31, 1947, in Picayune, Mississippi, Yvonne grew up there with her parents, Dennis and Nettie Waters, as one of 10 children. Picayune remained an important part of her story, shaping the early years of a life that would be defined by devotion to others, deep family ties, and a steady, caring presence.

Yvonne was a care provider throughout her life, and caring for others was at the heart of who she was. She spent her life looking after people and giving of herself in meaningful, everyday ways. That commitment to care was not simply her work; it was a constant thread in her life and in the way she related to those around her.

She met Clarence Ratcliff Sr. when they were in grade school, and together they raised nine children. Their long shared history began in childhood and became the foundation of a large family. Yvonne was preceded in death by her spouse, Clarence Ratcliff Sr., and by her son, Edward Waters.

She is remembered by her children Clarence Ratcliff Jr., Nervan Ratcliff, Michael Waters, Eddie Ratcliff, Robert Ratcliff, Thomas Ratcliff, Pamela TwoTwo, and Verlie TwoTwo; by her grandchildren Edward Ratcliff, Shawn Kelley, Jazmin Ratcliff, Semaj Ratcliff, Tre Ratcliff, Shania Waters, Myka Waters, and Sade Matthews; and by a host of additional grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Yvonne was a sweet, kind, and gentle lady whose company was widely enjoyed. Everybody liked her, and she was known for loving to laugh and listen to jokes. She brought warmth to the people around her and was remembered as someone who could brighten a room with her humor and easy spirit.

She also had a lively side that showed in the things she loved most. Yvonne was an outdoorsy person who loved to be in the sun. She was a great dancer who loved music, especially R&B and blues. These simple but vivid joys were part of her daily life and remain part of how she will be remembered by those who knew her.

Her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses was very important to her and remained a meaningful part of her life. It was an enduring source of guidance and importance to her through the years.

Yvonne Ratcliff leaves behind a life marked by care, laughter, faith, and family. Her memory will continue to live on in the many lives she touched through her kindness, her humor, and the love she gave so freely.
