Banna Samerpitak, age 54 passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, August 21st, 2019 at 1246 Morley-Potsdam Road, Potsdam. Banna was born October 10th, 1964 in ¬¬¬¬Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. She moved to the United States in 1995. Her dream was to open a Thai restaurant and share her love for cooking with her community. Banna enjoyed many moments of warm conversations with her patrons and employees at Thai Cuisine. She was a devote Buddhist who prayed and listened to chants and brought the gifts of her devotion into her daily life. Among the many things that delighted Banna outside of the restaurant, were her love for arranging flowers and playing with her beloved cat, Pepsi. Banna is survived by her son Bank, her ex-husband Phutsong (Eddie) Soikum with whom she maintained a close relationship, and Pepsi. Calling hours for Banna will be on Tuesday, August 27th from 4-7pm at Garner Funeral Service at 10 Lawrence Avenue, Potsdam. A traditional Buddhist funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 11-12pm at the same location and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Potsdam Humane Society in her honor. Following the funeral service, a Repast to celebrate Banna’s life and communal spirit will take place at the restaurant at 29 Maple Street in Potsdam from 7-8:30pm. A celebration of her life will continue with opportunities to share thoughts and memories of Banna. Light refreshments will be served. Please gather with us to celebrate the continuity of life. It was always such a joy to see Banna's happy face when we dined at her restaurant. We loved coming to the restaurant when we would come to Potsdam from Wanakena. It was the highlight of our day!
Our thoughts and prayers to her family.

I was saddened to hear about Banna. Such a warm happy lady and always so pleasant. Even waiting on her as a customer at the Post Office for the very first time or seeing her at the restaurant, that smile of hers was so contagious, it was as if I always knew her. We will all miss you dearly. My prayers are with your family and your restaurant family.

I guess we did not realize that Banna was the owner. What we did know is that we were always greeted with a big smile and greeting, and kindly chit chat, as if we were good friends. We started going there shortly after the restaurant opened and we felt like we were visiting a good friend when we walked in. Banna will be missed by many.

I am so very saddened to hear of our loss of Banna. She was and is a soul so filled with light and love, her absence has left a dark spot in our lives. She always remembered me because of what I ordered at the restaurant; I always order the same thing. I will miss her smile, joy and love of life. 💙

I'm so sorry for this devastating loss. I just want to let you know how much my family always enjoyed talking to Banna and seeing her smile, every time we went to the restaurant. She was an amazing cook and gracious host. Banna was a very kind-hearted person and will be greatly missed.

Eddie, Bank, and all the rest of your family... I am heartbroken to hear this news. My son Hollis and I were SO excited when we saw your sign go up: "Coming soon! Thai Cuisine". We love Thai food, and we were so happy to see that we could get it here. So... at first we came for the food, but soon we came for the love and friendship that Banna and your whole family brought to your restaurant. Our whole family loves Banna, and you, too! We are so sorry.
