Carol A. Shatraw, age 82 of Potsdam, NY passed away no May 2, 2018 at the Hospice House of Jefferson County where she had been admitted the day before. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 1pm at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, NY. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley @6805 St. Hwy 11 Potsdam, NY 13676.
Carol is survived by her three sons Thomas Shatraw of Syracuse, James (Mitzy) Shatraw of Norwood and Ronald Shatraw Jr. of Syracuse; daughters Cheryl Morganti of Potsdam, Tammy Shatraw of Massena, Carol “Carrie” (Edward) Hayes of South Colton and Autumn (Dan) Meldrin of Syracuse; brother John Prosper; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and half-sisters Sharlene Sommerfield and Marsha Martel. She is predeceased by her husband Ronald E. Shatraw, brother James Prosper and a sister Sue Ellen Storrs.
Carol A. Shatraw was born on September 27, 1935 in Massena, NY to the late Thomas Prosper and Olita Root. She attended Massena and Potsdam schools. On September 6, 1952 at Sacred Heart Church in Massena she was married to Ronald E. Shatraw with Rev. Bellamy celebrant. Carol worked in the custodial department at SUNY Potsdam for many years until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed knitting in her free time. On line condolences can be sent @www.garnerfh.com.
