

Genevieve LaPointe Miller, a resident of Maplewood, passed away peacefully on January 24, at 7:30p.m. at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, James W. Miller; her parents, George and Alma LaPointe; and her brother, Wayne A. LaPointe Sr.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Sharlow of Potsdam, six nieces and nephews and their families.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 1-3 pm at the Garner Funeral Service, Potsdam. A Funeral service will be held at 3pm at the Garner Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Rocker celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary’ Cemetery in Potsdam.
Genevieve was born in Potsdam on February 4, 1924, the eldest daughter of George and Alma LaPointe. She graduated from Potsdam High School in 1941 and worked at Fishman’s Department Store. She married Jimmy Miller on May 23, 1946. She worked for the New York Telephone Company for 42 years, retiring in 1984.
Genevieve was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Potsdam; and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, AARP, Sandstone Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary and New York Telephone Pioneers.
She had no children of her own but she was the beloved aunt, great aunt and great great aunt to many.
